Another non native species. Seen in January.

Skua on the coast of the river. Lui and Cecilia saw a skua chasing some Grey-hooded Gulls
Chroicocephalus maculipennis. It flew away rapidly and could not identify the species.

Early in the morning Simón along with Ignacio, Hernán, Eduardo and Pablo detected thirteen masked ducks with the telescope from the sidewalk. Quite unusual for the reserve. Since ponds were filled with water there have been a few sightings including a family which bred in the giant arrow area.
Later we looked for them from the Lizard Path. At that very moment we saw them move nearer de wall and there we went to have a better view. They were beside the embankment on the Brasil's side on an island of water cabbages. Without binoculars they were confused with the vegetation turned upside down by Wattled Jacanas.
We can see in the photo and the video are all individuals with female plumage. We estimate some of them must be males in eclipse plumage

Finally the female laurentia emperor also showed up. An individual with a damaged rear wing. The dorsal view of this butterfly remembers the syma sister because they both have an orange spot is followed by a white band. The form and the way they are connected are different. Besides the white line of syma sister ends in an orange eye, which is absent in the female laurentia emperor. These two butterflies belong to the same family Nymphalidae, but to different subfamilies (Apaturinae and Limenitidinae respectively).
