Two photos to see the differences between these two cowbirds: Screaming Cowbird and Shiny Cowbird. They belong to the Family Icteridae and both are parasitic
Differences: The violaceous blue of the Shiny Cowbird and the glossy black of the Screaming Cowbird. Bill length. Shorter in the Screaming Cowbird (in Spanish it takes its name after this difference) and longer in the Shiny Cowbird. The chestnut iris in the Screaming Cowbird and the dark iris in the Shiny Cowbird.

At 8:30 am the ducks were already active. I counted 25 though not all of them appear in the video. We hope this floating vegetation will not be removed since it is the only area which provides some protection. At the back two Rufous-sided Crakes appear at the end of the video.

Bumblebee
Bombus bellicosus
Bumblebee
22-05-16 © Román Montero
A threatened native species. The decline in number is thought to be due to two factors. On one hand, alteration of the habitat. This species is associated to the native grassland and the land use change both to urbanization and agriculture. On the other, a characteristic in the construction of the nest would influence negatively in reproduction. This bumblebee covers the nest with a layer of wax which is believed to protect bumblebees from low temperatures and with climate change this would become harmful for the species.

Waterbird Survey organized by the COARECS - Saturday 2nd of July A grey but full of optimism. It resulted very fruitful. We found a few nice things. The RECS was closed and we began the walk along the outer sidewalkd of Coypu Pond counting the birds of the pond. As we reached the Brasil end the reserve opened and went to the Canal Carlota Roberts (former Canal Sudeste) and from there all along the coast to get out at Viamonte.
Mist and rain at times accompanied us all the walk till midday.
