Order Hymenoptera
Family Apidae
A threatened native species. The decline in number is thought to be due to two factors. On one hand, alteration of the habitat. This species is associated to the native grassland and the land use change both to urbanization and agriculture. On the other, a characteristic in the construction of the nest would influence negatively in reproduction. This bumblebee covers the nest with a layer of wax which is believed to protect bumblebees from low temperatures and with climate change this would become harmful for the species
