This bat has a wide distributional range from Canada to Argentina. It is a loner and has nocturnal habits. It frequents wooded areas where it roosts hanging from a branch. Its diet is based on moths. though they are thought to eat other insects. Its white-tipped brown fur gives it a frosted look, which accounts for its name. The Lasiurus genus is characterized by the presence of hair on the upper part of the uropatagium (tail membrane).
