During the walk we found several camuati nests. As we were passing by this female Hepatic Tanager appeared and began to peck at the back part of the nest. The tanager cuts pieces of the nest and seems to chew them to extract honey from them.
The Hepatic Tanager also found a place in the classification. The mithocondrial DNA analysis were conclusive in that the Hepatic Tanager belongs in the Cardinalidae, though it seems strange to see it together with the grosbeaks with such prominent bills
