Sally saw it in the morning and Sergio photographed it. This is the second record in this year of a coot which previously was very common. Will they be in the Gull Pond and we can't see them?
Since a long time this coot has been absent and if we are lucky we find only one individual. Same thing is happening with the Spot-flanked Gallinule. These two species were very common and abundant
Very common some months ago. We look for it among all the coots to make sure the species is still present. There is only one individual.
Before the drought the three coot species were very abundant. The drought wiped them from the reserve. As ponds were filled with water they came back but with ups and downs. This is the first large group we see. Most of them are White-winged Coots but for a couple which seem to be Red-gartered Coots
