This small body of water became trapped after high tide. Full of fish it is an ideal place for both great and snowy egrets to feed.

The ringed teal is a perching duck. Perching ducks differ from other duck species in that they perch in trees. The pointed claws are a specialization for this.

Not frequently seen so exposed, this opossum was chasing a baby black and white tegu lizard Salvator merianae. As they disappeared into the vegetation, it remained a mistery how the chase ended.
