A busy island. There are three species of birthworts at the reserve. Here there two of them adn there is a third missing.
Aristolochia elegans (top photo) is a climbing plant. We found it on the road running along the river coast from Viamonte to the Meeting Point. It was full of flowers and two Polydamas Swallowtails were flitting about and it was impossible to photograph them. The caterpillar feeds on this plant.

This birthwort
Aristolochia fimbriata is native. It is spreading on the ground. Here we did not see the butterfly but the moths feeding on the plant. The third species is
Aristolochia macroura, but next time.

In these photos we can see all the Mallard Ducks now at the reserve. Let's remember that all these individuals descend from the wild Mallard Duck. The difference in plumage depends on the degree of domestication they have undergone. In the case of the Pekin Duck, white with orange bill, is the variant selectively bred as food. The other individuals have an ancestral plumage. The pair of the last photo appeared a month and half ago

Right after the Striped Cuckoo Guillermo from the Coa Yguazú saw this female camouflaged in the vegetation. We got near and everybody photographed the bird. Another one flew over our heads
